The painters we have seen, and others, who

Thousands of years ago in honour stood,

Things which had been with matchless pencil drew,

Some working upon wall, and some on wood.

But never, amid masters old or new,

Have ye of pictures heard or pictures viewed

Of things to come; yet such have been pourtrayed

Before the deeds were done which they displayed.
