In the Seventh Book Strabo describes the remaining portions of Europe. That on the east is the country beyond the Rhine, as far as the Don2537 and the mouth of the Sea of Azof;2538 and on the south, that which the Danube2539 bounds, lying between the Adriatic and the left shores of the Euxine, as far as Greece and the Sea of Marmora,2540 including the whole of Macedonia.
