LVIII. Daniel Casper von Lohenstein

The other leading light of the second Silesian school (1635-1683). Like his friend Hofmannswaldau, he was an exemplary Breslau official. He wrote half a dozen impossible tragedies in alexandrine verse and a huge erudite romance Arminius. The selection from Arminius follows an edition of 1731, which contains 2868 pages in four quarto volumes.
