X. RUDLIEB

A Latin poem in leonine hexameters, composed about 1030 at Tegernsee, Bavaria. It is imperfectly preserved, but more than 2000 verses are extant, and these give interesting pictures of contemporary German life. It is a metrical novel with a knight for hero. The selection is from M. Heyne’s Rudlieb, 1897,—a translation in iambic pentameter.
